The Penobscot 16 is named after the Native American tribe that has inhabited Old Town, Maine, since before recorded history. They are from whom Old Town gained immeasurable boat-building knowledge -- the Penobscot Canoe is an homage to their superb craftsmanship, sense of design, and navigational skills.
