With the SLS Locking system, you can lock out your poles while going up hill to gain more leverage and then quickly unlock them for more absorption of shock while you come down. The inner system is a SAS Antishock System Lite which gives you the best in support and the strap edges are softer giving you less abrasion in the tender spots of your hand.
